Your not alone man, I just had the same issue and come to found out it is the motherboard. Sorry to say you may have the same issue. Some people say to bake the motherboard for like 5 min in a oven which I wouldn't recommend. Your best best is to try to do a hard reset by taking the battery out and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. If this some how happen to work for you for a short time I recommend you back up your files while you can and then just say good bye to it. I thought about just getting a new motherboard but it's risky getting a new one that works good with out it breaking down on your weeks later. I was luck to back up the files I needed just in case, but over all I'm force to get a new system soon. Sorry man, it may just be the motherboard.

Media what? Man, I stay away from those weird features on PC's, no matter the size. If there wasn't a solution in the paperwork that came with the gizmo (on how to get out of media mode), Mr. Skillz is probably correct.
Although I found that cooling gizmos with broken wires/blown capacitors/bad bearings, is the best way - throw it in a plastic bag, and refrigerate the thing, thereby contracting the broken bits together. Get the crucial data out before it warms up, and the parts lose their connections.
Speaking of which, have you heard about these spiders from Asia, that try to chew their way into capacitors? They smell just like a female spider in heat, apparently; they end up shorting the board!
Once again, I have to tell ya. I have a DELL laptop. It had the same issue before (which means everything turns on except for the monitor) I just found that the CPU was slightly disconnected. Everything worked fine after I correctly placed my CPU on board. That's all about it BELIEVE IT.
